The Olomouc Zoo, one of the most important breeding facilities in the Czech Republic, has decided to modernise its electric fence system in 2025 in order to increase the safety of animals, visitors and staff. Older technologies have given way to a modern electric fence solution from the Smart Farm concept with the fencee Cloud app. This innovative system enables remote control and online monitoring of electric fences, making it easier for zookeepers to keep an eye on dozens of endangered species from around the world. The zoo has thus significantly strengthened its ability to provide reliable and efficient electrical security for animal enclosures.
The original electric fencing from a competing manufacturer failed to provide sufficient feedback and required frequent manual checks. The zoo was therefore looking for a more reliable solution that would allow remote monitoring, fault notification and the ability to react quickly. The Smart Farm fencee Cloud system offers just that, allowing the manager and individual staff members to continuously monitor the electric enclosure using a mobile app and PC access. The main reason for switching to fencee smart electric fencing was the need to gain 100% control and visibility over the operation of the electric fences, not only from the dashboard but also remotely via the fencee Cloud app.

As part of the project, a total of 20 pcs fencee energy DUO RF EDX80 Smart RF energizers with 8 J output power and DUO power supply were installed and commissioned. These smart fence power supplies offer an alert in the event of a loss of voltage in the electric fence, which is crucial for rapid response and ensuring the safety of animals and visitors. With the easy-to-use, user-friendly fencee Cloud app, each zookeeper has an instant overview of the status of the electric fence in their enclosure, right on their mobile phone.

Thanks to modern technology, the response time to a malfunctioning electric fence has been reduced from hours to minutes and operation is now safer and more efficient. Zookeepers don't have to manually check the status of the electric fence every day, resulting in time and money savings. The risk of an animal escaping or even coming into contact with zoo visitors is also a significant benefit.
